Gunther vs Sheamus (Clash at the Castle): The match was a much-anticipated one as the fans wanted it to happen due to their hard-hitting style of wrestling. The contest finally took place at Clash at the Castle and did not disappoint with some old-school wrestling spots. The match had several near-falls as Sheamus tested Gunther in every possible way before the latter landed a massive lariat to seal the win. The match also saw Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser walking out with Gunther twoards the ring which indicated the reunion of the Imperium.
Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair (WrestleMania 38): This match became all the more special as Belair won her first RAW Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 38. With the win, she got her revenge on Becky Lynch who had defeated her in less than 30 seconds on her return to Summerslam in 2021. The build-up to the match was amazing with the hair-cutting segment and the match lived up to its expectations with several high-flying spots. The ending saw Bianca dodge a manhandle slam and nail the KOD for the pinfall.
Roman Reigns vs Logan Paul (Crown Jewel): Roman Reigns vs Logan Paul received enormous hype due to the latter’s social media popularity. Paul had a strategy to bring his own bloodline for the match to nullify the threat from the Tribal Chief’s men. The match at WWE Crown Jewel surprisingly saw Logan Paul dominate but it was Reigns who retained his championship in the end. Cody Rhodes vs Seth Rollins (Hell In A Cell): Regarded as the best match of 2022 by many, this match exceeded all expectations. With the win over Seth Rollins at HIAC, Cody Rhodes recorded his third straight victory over Seth Rollin since returning to WrestleMania 38. The American Nightmare fought with a torn pectoral muscle against the Visionary but managed to come out on top, courtesy of two Cross Rhodes and a brutal sledgehammer shot. He has been out of action ever since.
Kevin Owens vs Stone Cold Steve Austin (WrestleMania 38): Perhaps the biggest moment of WrestleMania 38 came when Stone Cold Steve Austin decided to come out of retirement to battle Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match. Owens called out the Rattlesnake in front of his home crowd to insult him in a bid to make him accept his challenge. Stone Cold could not turn down the offer and the two engaged in a street fight that went through the crowd and ended with a signature stunner from the former world champion.
Roman Reigns vs Riddle (SmackDown): The match on the June 17, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown was worth every hype as Riddle showed that he is capable of being a main eventer. Riddle wanted to give an emphatic ending to his feud with the Bloodline and hence went for the Tribal Chief’s Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins (Royal Rumble): The build-up to this high-profile encounter witnessed Seth Rollins boasting about Roman Reigns not being able to beat him when it mattered. Though all the signs indicated that the Tribal Chief would emerge victorious this time, it was Rollins who had the last laugh at Royal Rumble via disqualification. The match was all the more interesting and recorded one of the hottest crowd of the year due to the two superstars’ Sheild connection.
Becky Lynch vs Lita (Elimination Chamber): It was a stunning match between Becky Lynch and her childhood hero and WWE Hall of Famer Lita who showed that she is far from over. The match ended with Becky continuing her dominant reign as the RAW Women’s Champion. The match was particularly praised for its nail-biting ending. Th dying stages of the match witnessed Lynch missing her moonsault attempt and Lita hitting a Twist of Fate and moonsault. Everybody in the arena thought that it was the end to the match but Becky kciked out and landed a manhandle slam to script the win.
