WWE Smackdown – Smackdown Results and Highlights: Check out the big highlights and what happened on WWE Friday Night Smackdown Episode on 19th February- The final Smackdown before the Elimination Chamber PPV event was headlined by the massive and highly anticipated face-to-face segment between the Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg. Besides the face-to-face segment, the night also featured an Intercontinental Championship bout. What all took place tonight on the show? Let’s check out.

WWE Smackdown Results & Updates:

Goldberg and Roman Reigns Face-to-Face- Roman Reigns along with Paul Heyman is in the ring. Roman asks the New Orleans crowd to Acknowledge him and then asks his Wiseman Paul Heyman to celebrate him.

Paul Heyman then took the mic and like always was nothing but praising his Tribal Chief Roman Reigns and the crowd was booing him badly. He was all praise for Roman Reigns and explaining his Greatness to the crowd. Soon the segment was interrupted by the WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg whose entry was shown from his locker room.

Goldberg entered the ring to the mic and then threw it clarifying his intentions to go right after the Univeral Champion. Roman took the mic and said that he was willing to give him an option to acknowledge him the last time but instead Goldberg walked right into his face and took the mic from him.

The crowd was going berserk with “Goldberg Goldberg!” chants. Goldberg held the mic and said that he wants to apologize to all these wonderful people and the fans all around the world that he said Roman is Next. Because when it comes to the Universal Championship, he (Goldberg) is next.

Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn vs. Shinsuke Nakamura- The match got underway with Sami Zayn taking the help of the ropes and evading Nakamura’s offense. Soon we saw some action when Sami held the champ in a side headlock and drive him to the corner. Sami attacked the champion in the corner before sending him to the other corner, but Shinsuke ricocheted with a kick on the chest of Sami Zayn.

The champ was on the attack now and wasn’t letting Sami get into the grove. He placed Sami on the apron and hit his face with a running knee. He then tried to drop on him knee-first on the back of Sami’s head, but Sami got out of harm’s way, and Shinsuke stuck knee-first on the floor as we head into commercials.

After the commercials, we saw Sami wearing down the champ in the middle of the ring with his arms wrapped around the neck of the champ. he then went for two pinfalls in succession, but Shinsuke kicked out every time. Sami then hit a series of chest chops and was working on the champ to the fullest. The champ was feeling the heat but came back into his own by countering Sami’s clothesline into an armbar.

He then used the roped to his advantage and hit Sami with a Baseball slide. Sami was floored in the ring and Shinsuke too went inside, Shinsuke was going for a move, but Sami countered it with a slam wherein the champ’s skull was droved into the mat.

Shinsuke was feeling the pain and rolled outside. Sami tried taking advantage by going for a running dive from the steel stairs, but Shinsuke countered it with a kick on the side of the face. Shinsuke then tried a Kinshasa on Sami near the steel stairs, but the latter moved out of harm’s way and Shinsuke stuck knee-first into the stairs as we head into commercials.

After the commercials, we saw Sami working in Nakamura in the corner and after a back & forth battle between the two, Sami went for a Blue Thunder bomb. He went for a cover, but Shinsuke kicked out at 2 counts. Sami then started mocking Nakamura and after evading a few moves from the champion, Zayn started working on his bad knee by dragging the champ into the corner and slamming the back of his bad knee into the corner post not once but thrice.

Shinsuke was really struggling with the bad knee and Sami took all the advantage he could out of it. Sami kicked Shinsuke on his bad knee and then all of a sudden went for a cover which the champ couldn’t kick out and eventually lost the title.

Drew McIntyre in the ring: Drew McIntyre is in the ring and he started off by recognizing New Orleans. He then turned his attention to the attack he faced from Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin at WWE Day 1.

He said that at Elimination Chamber he would be facing Moss in a Falls Count Anywhere match which means he can do anything he wants and beat Moss in any manner he wants. He gave some examples of the beating and asked the WWE Univers to suggest him some ideas by using #MadcapMauling.

As Drew was speaking, Moss & Corbin interrupted him. They stood on the aisle and Madcap Moss told Drew that he knows his neck isn’t 100% and at Elimination Chamber he will do the same what he did at WWE Day 1 before cracking a joke on the Scottish Warrior. Drew McIntyre ended the segment by saying that at Elimination Chamber he is going to hurt Moss and end his jokes for good.

Ivar vs. Jey Uso- Both the competitors were accompanied by their tag-team partners. The match started with Jey kicking Ivar in the gut. Ivar was rocked with the kick and took some beating but not for long as Ivar returned with a sit-up in the corner.

Ivar tried gaining control, but Jey hit him with a kick on the side of the face and started working around his neck. Jey went for another superkick, and just when he thought Ivar was done, the latter hit him with a vicious clothesline.

The two men were up with their offense back & forth and finally, we saw Ivar taking the aerial route and slamming his body right on Jey Uso. He went for a cover, but Jimmy entered the scene to disqualify the bout and hit Ivar with his own headgear. The referee called the match and Ivar was awarded a win. However, Erik entered the ring and nullify Jimmy Uso and soon we saw the Viking Raiders standing tall.

Sheamus vs. Ricochet- As soon as the bell rang, Ricochet stunned Sheamus with two back-to-back dropkicks and drove him into the corner. Sheamus tried to return in the match, but Ricochet was quick with his moves and sent him over the top rope with a dropkick followed by a cannonball from over the top rope.

The two men were in the ring again and now it was Sheamus who started to find his rhythm and was on the attack. He was taking out Ricochet inch by inch before Ricochet once again send him outside near the announce table and tried going for a moonsault from over the rope. This time, however, Sheamus caught him and threw him over the announce desk with a fallaway slam. We now head into commercials.

After the commercials, we saw Sheamus in control. He set up Ricochet on the apron for the 10 beats on the chest and nailed the strikes perfectly. Ricochet was feeling the heat but returned with a DDT and some boxing strikes before going for a shooting star. The momentum shifted again and Sheamus was on the attack now.

He came up with his offense and then went onto the top turnbuckle for a suicide dive, but Ricochet caught him on the top rope and nailed a picture-perfect Spanish Fly. He went for a cover, but Sheamus barely kicked out at 2 counts. In the closing moments of the match, Ricochet tried going on the top turnbuckle for a high-risk maneuver, but Ridge climbed the apron and tried distracting Ricochet.

Sheamus then went for a Brogue Kick but Ricochet ducked and Sheamus was face to face with Holland. This slight distraction was all that Ricochet needed to nail a perfect knee on Sheamus’ face and pick up a surprising win.

After the match got over, Sheamus wasn’t happy with what Ridhe Holland did, and pushed him down to the mat.

 

 

Contract signing- The night kicks off with Adam Pearce in the ring and he was there to host the contract signing for the team of Charlotte Flair & Sonya Deville and Ronda Rousey & Naomi. He introduced the team of Charlotte & Sonya first, followed by Ronda & Naomi.

Both the teams were in the ring and Adam Pearce was about to start the segment, but Sonya said that she knows the drill about contract signing and Adam should actually explain Naomi & Ronda. The two teams started a quarrel before Sonya revealed a stipulation for the match.

She told Ronda that the contract says that she (Ronda) has to wrestle this match with one hand tied behind her back. In spite of the stipulation, Ronda signed the contract and said that Elimination Chamber is tomorrow, but both her hands are free to do whatever she wanted tonight. She then slammed Charlotte face-first into the table meanwhile Naomi kicked Sonya on the side of her face before the two ladies flipped the table on their opponents.
