WWE Smackdown – SmackDown Results: Apollo Crews retains the Intercontinental Championship: Apollo Crews played dirty and retained his Intercontinental Championship tonight on WWE Smackdown. The match, which could have been a 5-star affair, looked minuscule as Owens made his way to the ring in pain after the assault he got at the hands of Commander Azeez backstage.

Commander Azeez made sure Owens don’t head to the ring 100%

Adam Pearce announced last week that Kevin Owens would go one-on-one against Apollo Crews for the Intercontinental Championship on the line with Commander Azeez banned from ringside. It wasn’t a great news for Apollo, as the Champion didn’t have the upper hand.

To make things in favor of the Champion, Azeez decided to take down Owens backstage. He assaulted the ‘Prize Fighter’ when he was making his way to the ring. Azeez hit him with a big boot, slammed him on the wall, and hit him with some fierce strikes before lodging a crate towards his chest and abdomen.

Despite the onslaught, Owens made his way to the ring!

After the beating he received backstage, not many would have thought that Owens will be out for his match, but he did come out injured and made sure that he goes fighting.

Despite the injury he sustained prior to the match, Owens gave his best. He hit Apollo Crews with two superkicks and a pop-up powerbomb, but the pain in his abdomen got the better of him, and eventually, Crews hit him with a Samoan Drop on the apron to secure a victory.

Sami Zayn attacked Owens after the match!

After the match got over, Sami Zayn came rushing down and hit an already exhausted Kevin Owens with a Helluva Kick. It was a night to forget for Owens who was reeling on the mat at the end of his match.
