Below are the WWE Smackdown Results and Highlights of the night–

After the match- Once the match got over, Finn Balor took the mic and said that he is not going to smiling after what happened last week. He wants Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship and if he has to go through John Cena for this, he won’t fend off. As he was speaking, Roman Reigns made his way to the entrance ramp and then to the ring.

The two men were in the ring face-to-face. Roman said that he knows why Finn is upset. He said, he gave Finn the opportunity to fight him, but he should never take his name on his show. As Roman went outside the ring, The Usos attacked Finn from behind and attacked him in ambush.

After going through some lusty blows, Balor got the better of The Usos and called Roman Reigns back in the ring. The two teed off inside, but yet again The Usos along with Roman git the better of Balor and the night ended with Roman Reigns & The Usos standing tall.

 

 

Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin- Balor was fuming at Corbin after what happened last week. As the bell rung, Corbin asked for a mic and apologized for what he did to Balor, however, Balor didn’t accept his apology and blasted with a series of right hands on Corbin.

Balor continued the assault, but Corbin also got his chance to shine as he hit him with heavy strikes. In the closing moments though, Balor hit the running slingshot and followed it up by Coupe de Grace to finish the proceedings.

Backstage- Roman Reigns seems interested in the main event of the night.

 

 

Zelina Vega vs. Bianca Belair- The Women’s Champion was overpowering Zelina Vega from the outset. She was proving too good for Zelina hitting her with multiple shots and daunting moves. The two women went outside the ring and Bianca lifted Zelina upon her head only to get distracted by Sasha Banks, who made her way to the entrance ramp midway in the match.

After the commercial, the two women were back in the ring. Belair continued muscling Vega and slammed her face right into the mat. At one stage, Vega tried going for a Sleeper Hold but the champ turned it into a suplex. In the closing moments, Belair slammed Vega’s side face on the barricade outside the ring to incapacitate her and then finished the proceedings by placing a Kiss of Death on a reeling Zelina Vega.

The Street Profits vs. Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler- Montez Ford and Bobby Roode started off the proceedings. Ford tried to show her quickness by hitting a dropkick on Roode inside the ring and on Ziggler at the apron, but Roode caught him up with a huge slam.

Roode then tagged in Ziggler who continued with the upper hand. However, Ford got some opening and tagged in Angelo Dawkins who changed the complexion. He hit a spinning neck breaker on Ziggler and followed up by a spine buster. Dawkins then tagged Ford who ended the match with a frog splash on Ziggler.

Backstage- Finn Balor has not forgotten what Cena did to him, and he has the 16-time World Champion somewhere in his head.

 

 

Edge is in the ring- Edge and loud pops are quite a common sight on WWE Smackdown now. The Rated-R Superstar starts off by stating that Seth Rollins isn’t here tonight and if he was here tonight, he would have been ended by me.

Seth Rollins wasn’t in the arena, but he came live on the big screen via Satellite. Seth was rubbishing about Edge. However, Edge was straight into business and said why don’t we have a first-time-ever match, you and me at WWE Summerslam.

Seth said I am the one who takes the shots here. Seth crosses the line by dragging Edge’s family. Edge got furious and said that Seth I was the one to eliminate you from the 2020 and 2021 Royal Rumble and you have always wanted to fill my shoes, but you never did it. This made Seth furious, and he agreed to face Edge at WWE Summerslam.

 

 

Backstage- Zelina Vega askes Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville why her match tonight against Bianca Belair isn’t for the Championship.

 

 

Tamina vs. Tegan Nox- The singles debut of Tegan Nox on WWE Smackdown is here. Tamina was the one with the early momentum as she threw Nox across the ring. However, two running Cannon Ball in the corner by Nox shifted the momentum towards her.

Tamina despite the Cannon Ball splash lifted Nox for a Samoan drop, but a tank missile distraction from Shotzi from outside the ring helped Nox go for a roll-up pin over Tamina for a win.

Backstage- Kayla Braxton interviews Paul Heyman backstage. Paul and Roman were upset about John Cena signing the contract last week and said that Roman Reigns has nothing to say about it. As he turned around to leave, Big E was standing there with his Money in the Bank contract and laughing at Paul Heyman.

 

 

King Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Apollo Crews- Athleticism was on display as the two men tried to be quick with their moves on each other. The Intercontinental Champion looked in control from the start, until Shinsuke hit Crews with a knee to the gut on the top turnbuckle.

Shinsuke continued his assault by hitting Crews with a knee on the chest followed by a knee on the side of the face. With Shinsuke in control, Commander Azeez pulled out Shinsuke to disqualify the bout.

Backstage- Edge gets interviewed backstage and looks like he is eager to meet Seth Rollins face-to-face tonight.

 

Dominik vs. Jey Uso- The match started with the classic wrestling hold followed by a series of right arms from Dominik. His momentum was broken by a running forearm followed by a slam. In a moment or two, Jey was gaining the extra bit before he was hit on the barricade back first outside the ring with a sunset flip.

During the commercial, Jimmy hit a cheap shot on Dominik to help his brother Jey regain control of the proceedings. Jey tried a Samoan drop, but Dominik denied it with a neck breaker. Dominik then denied an ensegurie from Jey and put Jey in a position of 619.

He successfully hit the 619 on Jey, but Jimmy’s distraction and Rey’s splash on Jimmy outside the ring distracted Dominik and Jey rocked him with a superkick followed by a top turnbuckle splash, to pick up a win.

Backstage- Rey Mysterio was unhappy that Dominic challenged Jey tonight. He said, now that we have got our match against The Usos at WWE Summerslam, we should be strategic now. Dominic had other ideas, and he said that he challenged Jey because he wants to get into the head of The Usos before their Tag team championship match at WWE Summerslam.

 

Sasha Banks kicks off Smackdown tonight- The Boss is back, and she is better and meaner than ever. Banks started off by saying that The Boss is back and she has come back to get back the spotlight she deserves.

She added, last week she exposed Bianca Belair and that was so easy. She further added Bianca can never be anything without her. Sasha was upset because Bianca never shows the gratitude she deserved especially after their match at Wrestlemania 37.

As Sasha was speaking, Bianca also walked to the entrance ramp. Bianca started telling Sasha that she should remember that she was the one who was begging Bianca to chose her after Bianca won the Royal Rumble. Bianca further added that she is ready to defend her title against her at WWE Summerslam.

Zelina Vega interrupted and walked down the ramp saying that this isn’t going to happen. This is because last week before Sasha interrupted Zelina’s challenge was accepted by Bianca. The women’s champ agreed to her words from the last week and said that she will take Banks at WWE Summerslam and will face Zelina tonight.
