Since the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania, John Cena has been a part of each and every event. Every time while fighting various opponents he had made sure that the match has to be the best match, but every time it may not be the case. Before we indulge ourselves in one such match let us begin with his first event.
The first WrestleMania for John Cena was the last for The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) but John Cena emerged victoriously. Cena then went on to defeat Big Show at WrestleMania for the US title. In this match, he proved himself to be one of WWE’s most powerful stars and thus began a road for Cena with no end in sight.
To Whom did John Cena suffer his first WrestleMania loss?
John Cena was on a roll until in WrestleMania XXIV came the first person who defeated Cena. John Cena suffered his first defeat during a Triple Threat match for the WWE title to his greatest rival of all time, Randy Orton. Orton put the win-loss record to 4-1 against Cena. The Cena-Orton rivalry was probably the greatest rivalry of all time witnessed by the WWE audience.
Initially beginning in 2007, the feud between the two famous wrestlers continued till 2014. Three years later, in 2017 the duo had their last one-of match where Cena won. In 2022, on John Cena’s 20th debut anniversary, he paid a tribute to Orton mentioning his “utmost respect” for his opponent’s achievements as a wrestler, and his “genuine love and admiration” as a human being.

Among several possible directions for Cena in 2023, the one match which will be thrilling will be a face-off between Randy Orton and John Cena for one last time, given all the history between them. An exciting last battle between the duo would surely set the stage on fire besides giving chills to the audience. However though there exist speculations of Cena entering men’s royal rumble, no such speculations are available from Orton’s side, probably because of his spine injury. Hence, the chances of Orton returning are very low, yet a surprise return is what fans always ask for.
