WTC Finals LIVE: Kane Williamson declares, ‘I am fit to take on India’ playing XI will be decided later- New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson gave an update about his fitness ahead of the epic encounter. He said that he is fit to lead the Kiwis in the inaugural World Test Championship but he did not reveal the final XI that will play against India starting Friday.

“Everybody is fit in the squad. My elbow has improved thanks to the injection a few days back. We haven’t finalised the squad yet, we will do that a little later,” Williamson told at the press conference.

Notably, Williamson had missed the second Test against England.

New Zealand might have dethroned India but it will not play a key role in the World Test Championship final, feels Williamson. Kiwis dethroned India to take World No.1 spot in ICC Test Rankings after defeating England 1-0 in the Test series.

“The rankings keep changing but we know the challenge is very, very strong against this Indian team,” he told the press.

WTC Finals LIVE: The Kiwi skipper added that he is excited to play the one-off Test away at a neutral venue.

“Most Test series are more than one match. Both teams at a neutral venue. It is exciting. It is a one-off,” he said.

On trying to play positive cricket and get a result, Williamson replied, ” I think both teams have their own style and brand of cricket that they are committed too… there is a chance we will get a good five days of cricket.”

“There are a number of areas of competition. we know how strong their seam bowling attack is, the spinners and the batting is world class. Similar for us too. It is exciting to be involved in this WTC final.”

“Every team has their challenges and we have a slightly smaller population but we are not looking at that. We are just looking forward to getting involved. It has been a long time coming,” he signed off.
