WTC Final: Is New Zealand’s Trent Boult a singer? New Zealand’s left-arm pacer Trent Boult, who contributed immensely in New Zealand’s journey to the World Test Championship Final and eventually lifting the trophy in the inaugural edition, has beautifully sung a self-composed victory song summarising their win in the ultimate Test. In the WTC Final, Kane Williamson-led New Zealand beat Virat Kohli’s India by eight wickets.

Boult’s new guise as a singer came in a video shared by New Zealand on their official Twitter handle. The post captioned, “Trent Boult x @JamesMcOnie FireMultiple musical notes A special #WTC21 themed musical collaboration between Trent Boult and the Crowd Goes Wild’s James McOnie.” The video was also shared by ICC on their official account later.

WTC Final: ICC Men’s Number-1 ODI ranked player piped out the victory song during his quarantine in Auckland. The two-minute video relives the iconic moments backed with the rightful lyrics venting out the perfect emotions as the Blackcaps cruised their emphatic eight-wicket victory in the ultimate Test.

WTC Final: Major highlights of the victory song

The song was gripping in all spheres which started with wittily lauding opener Devon Conway through the line “tired of the white-ball life”. Conway scored a double-hundred on Test debut and was one of the two batsmen to make a fifty in the World Test Championship final.

Sooner, he lauded Kane Williamson’s captaincy and devoted the ultimate to him. Moreover, the ace pacer made a special mention of their batting great Ross Taylor who smashed the winning runs to attract the glittering ICC mace.

WTC Final: Trent Boult’s bowling performance in the final match

Even though Kyle Jamieson was adjudged as the man of the match, Boult’s bowling contribution was significant in the Kiwis win. The left-arm pacer dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja in the first innings, followed by Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, and Ravichandran Ashwin in the second. He finished with figures of 36.1-6-86-5 in the WTC Final.
