In the Greco-Roman wrestling, the wrestling world witnessed some amazing performances throughout the year 2019. The UWW Senior World Championships of 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Under 23 World Championships in Budapest and many other Greco tournaments world over were keenly watched by the wrestling fans. Russia with 2 gold medals dominated the world of Greco-Roman wrestling once again in 2019 by finishing at the top of the table in the Senior World Championships with 132 points. Uzbekistan surprisingly was the number 2 and Georgia number 3 in the overall table at the Senior World Championships. Iran which is considered as one of the power-house of Greco wrestling could finish 4th.
The most amazing performance of the season came in from none other than Ismael Borrero from Cuba who defeated 3 world champions en-route to gold in 67kg at Nur-Sultan. Shinobu Ota of Japan also won the hearts by winning gold against Russian great Stepan Maryanyan in non-olympic category of 63kg. In 130 kg Riza Kayaalp once again proved his hegemony by defeating Oscan Pino of Cuba.
The Indian wrestlers in the category could not do much apart from noteworthy performances by Arjun Halakurki & Sajan in age group competitions. Meanwhile lets take look at 10 best moves of the year 2019 in the Greco-Roman category.
