WPL Auction: Women’s Premier League 2023 – The BCCI is preparing to hold its first-ever Women’s Premier League (WPL) Auction on Monday in Mumbai, as India’s women begin their quest for their first T20 World Cup victory against Pakistan in South Africa, miles away. India and even overseas players are excited for the first-ever WPL auction, which takes place in a few hours. WPL Auction: ‘Waiting for Years’ WATCH as BIG cricketing stars Smriti Mandhana, Dani Wyatt, Nat Sciver & others PUMPED up for maiden Women’s Premier League Auction
WPL Auction: The auction will start at 2.30 IST on Monday, February 13. It will take place at the Bandra-Kurla Complex’s Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Between March 4 and March 26, 22 matches in the event will be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
A total of 22 matches amongst five franchises will be contested at the inaugural WPL in Mumbai from March 4 to March 26 at the Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium. The list was reduced to 409 players from a total of 1525 players that registered for the WPL player auction.
246 of the 409 players are Indian, and 163 are from other countries, including eight from associate countries. There are 199 uncapped players and 202 players with caps overall. The five teams are Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants (Adani Group), and UP Warriorz (Capri Globals).
