The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has announced 20 member team that will participate in the World Wrestling Clubs Cup in Bojnurd, Iran. World Wrestling Clubs Cup is an international wrestling clubs competition among teams representing member nations of the United World Wrestling (UWW), the sport’s global governing body. As India doesn’t have club structure, they will participate in the tournament as team India.
Unlike the previous editions, India this time will participate in both freestyle and the greco-roman category in this team competition. Indian freestyle squad includes national champions Gaurav Baliyan (74kg) & Sandeep Singh Mann (79kg), runners-up at the Jalandhar nationals Sonba Gongane (61kg). In the greco-roman category prominent names like Arjun Halakurki (55kg), Gurpreet Singh (77kg) & Harpreet Singh (97kg) have been included in the squad.
