The Australia Women’s team beat India Women’s team by 5 runs to get one step closer to defending their crown. The high octane clash also witnessed tempers flaring with Shafali Verma gives ‘FIERY’ send off to Beth Mooney.
Shafali, had dropped an absolute sitter of Mooney in the 10th over. However she redeemed herself by taking a sharp catch on the final ball of the 12th over after Mooney had scored 54 runs. Shafali came up with a noteworthy gesture as the Indian opener gave Mooney a fiery send-off

Beth Mooney’s onslaught on Indian bowlers
Batting first Mooney and her opening partner Alyssa Healy stitched a 43-run stand for the opening wicket inside the opening powerplay. India’s sloppy fielding did not help either as Australians looked in complete control. The openers completed their 50-run partnership, following which India finally managed to get the breakthrough.
Dangerous looking Healy was dismissed in the 8th over but Mooney continued her onslaught on the opposition bowlers . The in-form batter who received a reprieve in the 19th over notched up a quick-fire half-century in the 12th over before being dismissed by Shikha Pandey.

Women’s T20 World Cup: India Women falter in run chase
Chasing a stiff target of 173 India did not have a great start losing their top three batters inside the 30 run mark. Jemimah Rodrigues and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur did stitched a vital partnership to keep the team very much in the run chase. Rodrigues fell short of half century getting dismissed for 43 runs.
Harmanpreet Kaur launched attack on opposition bowlers as she reached 54 runs in 34 balls comprising of 6 boundaries and one six. It looked liked the Indian skipper was set for a big knock but her innings had an unfortunate end. Harmanpreet’s bat got stuck before the crease and her feet were in the air when an Healy dislodged the bails.
Australia changed the momentum of the game as they applied pressure on the Indian batters. In the end they managed to defend the total and enter the final where they face either host South Africa or England.
