Jemimah Rodrigues, who was snubbed from the squad for the Women’s World Cup earlier this year, gave a timely reminder of her skills as she blasted a stunning half century in the third game of the Women’s T20 challenge. Walking in after the early dismissal of captain Smriti Mandhana, Rodrigues etched a fine partnership with newcomer Sabhineni Meghana to put the Trailblazers on top in what is a must win game.
The 21-year-old put on 113 stand with Meghana and en route scored a stunning half-century. Rodrigues eventually managee 66 off just 44 balls, slamming seven fours and a six at an impressive strike rate of 150. The Mumbai batter was in good touch in the build up to the Women’s T20 challenge, scoring heavily in the domestic T20I competition for Women.
Rodrigues will be keen to prove her point after he snub for the World Cup earlier this year, but performances like one on Thursday should all but seal her return to the side when India tour Sri Lanka and England later this year. The 21-year-old is also looked up as an important T20 player, with the Commonwealth Games and the T20 World cup on the horizon.
