Serena with a setback in Wimbledon build-up –
Williams’s Wimbledon preparations suffered a blow after doubles partner Ons Jabeur withdrew from the Eastbourne tournament because of a knee injury on Thursday. Serena’s last Grand Slam singles title came at the Australian Open in 2017. Williams won the seventh and most recent of her seven Wimbledon singles titles in 2016 and will be determined to go one better this time around.

Serena one Grand Slam title away from equaling Margaret Court-
- The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion has dropped to 1,204th in the world rankings and is unseeded for the tournament at the All England Club, which starts on Monday.
- However, she won’t be underestimated provided her champions credential, if Williams does win the Wimbledon title it will be her 24th Grand Slam title, equaling Margaret Court’s tally.
- She is currently on 23 and has second-most Grand Slam singles titles, next to her is Steffi Graff with 22 titles in the Singles competition.
- Serena will be equally determined to make her march to the final and win the competition for the eighth time, which will see her go level with Roger Federer for most titles.
- Martina Navratilova holds the record for most titles at the SW-19 with nine, which remains a record too far for Serena at the moment.
