Federer and Pete Sampras video goes viral on Wimbledon social media page-
- Ahead of the Raducanu debut, Wimbledon posted a video of Roger Federer and Pete Sampras match from 2001.
- Federer made his debut at the iconic centre court in that match and surprisingly beat the 14-time Grand Slam champion.
- The epic match is still considered one of the best Center court debuts of all time.
- It was in 2003 when Federer won his first Wimbledon title and seven more followed in due time.
- With Raducanu all set to make her debut on Monday at the centre court, the atmosphere has been great.

Raducanu focused on her performance –
Ahead of her first-round match against Alison Van Uytvanck, Raducanu spoke about the negativity surrounding her performance. Raducanu has said she intends to ignore all negativity and focus on the joy of returning to Wimbledon.
“I think last year I was so new to it, so I wasn’t even thinking of anything,” Raducanu said.
“This year I’m taking it all as a positive thing. Everyone wants me to do well and is behind me and are going to be cheering. So there’s nothing negative or to feel overwhelmed about because they’re just going to be rooting for me.”

Wimbledon shared a special video of Roger Federer making his centre court debut from 2001 where he beat Sampras. The video has been trending on the internet as Raducanu steps in to make her debut.
One previous meeting-
In their only previous meeting, Raducanu defeated the Belgian 7-6, 6-3 in the first round of the Chicago 125 event last year on hard court, the last tournament before she won the US Open. Back then, the Belgian was the top seed and Raducanu was unseeded, but now the roles are reversed.

Raducanu ready to rock on Grass –
Raducanu, the 10th seed, has a challenging first-round assignment on Monday. Experienced Van Uytvanck has all the weapons and all-court game flourishing on the surface. Raducanu needs to be at her fluent best to book her place in the next round.
So far she has failed to make an impact at a Grand Slam in 2022. She was knocked out in the second round of the Australian Open and lost to Danka Kovinić of Montenegro.
It wasn’t the greatest time at French Open as well after Raducanu lost in yet another second-round exit. This time though she will be determined to get the missing piece in the puzzle right and advance to the later stages.
Also featuring on the center court are Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic on Monday.
