Wimbledon 2021: Matteo Berrettini enters round 2, defeats Guido Pella in 4 sets battle- The Queen’s champion, Matteo Berrettini, extended his winning run on grass with an impressive victory over Guido Pella on No.3 Court.
The Italian won 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0, serving 20 aces in the process and winning the final eight games.
Break points were few and far between and one apiece was enough for the pair to share the first two sets.
Berrettini edged ahead by two sets to one, just shy of two hours, when he broke in the 10th game of the third – rocketing a shot at Pella which would have flown out but which the Argentinian could only deflect into the net.
This was the singal for Berrettini to turn up the heat and speed to victory.
