WI vs NZ 2nd ODI Highlights: New Zealand beat WestIndies by 50 runs – New Zealand bowlers delivered their game to beat WestIndies by 50 runs (D/L method) to square the series on Friday at Bridgetown. New Zealand scored 212 runs despite a strong hand of 96 from Finn Allen in 2nd ODI. But the Black Cap bowlers, including Tim Southee and Trent Boult stood up to be counted, scalping four and three wickets respectively to help the Black Caps script a solid win as the Windies were bundled out for 161 runs.

In fact, West Indies should be applauded for their late effort. At one point, they were staring at a massive defeat as they lost eight wickets for 72 runs. Boult and South had removed the top and middle order in a jiffy.

But then, Yarric Cariah and Alzarri Joseph had some other idea. The former was being cautious, but kept the score card ticking. Joseph, on the other hand, was swinging his bat to a good effect.

The two increased the hopes of the Caribbean nation with a 85-runs stand. The dismissal of Joseph for 31-ball 49 made matters difficult and Cariah (52) also lost his wicket in the 36th over to end up on the losing side.

It also meant that West Indies off spinner Kevin Sinclair’s maiden four-wicket haul went in vain. The finger spinner was quite impressive, playing in just his second ODI to end the night with figures of 8.2-0-41-4.

New Zealand did miss the services of Kane Williamson as they were struggling initially in the first innings. They were 31/3, but then opener Finn Allen decided to stand up and shoulder responsibility.

Though he lost wickets at the other end, he held his side form, scoring 96 to help his team reach 212 runs. The first innings score proved to be enough for New Zealand.

New Zealand top order failed in absence of Kane Williamson as New Zealand were tottering at 31/3, but Finn Allen scored a brilliant 96 to steer their team to a score of 212 runs.
