WI vs AUS 3rd T20: 5 IPL stars Aaron Finch’s Australia missing badly against West Indies

David Warner: The Australia and Sunrisers Hyderabad opening batsman is known for his sheer consistency. That he has scored 5,447 runs in 148 matches at an average of 42.22 and strike rate of 140.13 says a lot about his quality. With him opening in West Indies, Australia could have a different outcome.

Steve Smith: Although not known as a T20 batsman, Steve Smith’s calibre demands respect. He is a constant presence in the Aussie middle-order and has the ability to anchor the innings. With Australia losing seven wickets for 38 and 39 runs respectively, he would have been the perfect man to steady the ship coming at No 3 or No 4.

WI vs AUS 3rd T20 Marcus Stoinis: It’s clear that Daniel Christian’s return to the national side hasn’t worked. He has not been given much time with the ball while he has been ineffective with the bat too. In his place, Marcus Stoinis could have done a better job as he has been in form for Delhi Capitals.

Glenn Maxwell: Although Mitchell Marsh has done a great job at No 3, scoring two consecutive half-centuries, there has been no one to support him. At RCB, Glenn Maxwell has shown that he is ready to sacrifice his flamboyant batting in exchange for consistency. With RCB, he had a revelation of the season, top-scoring for the franchise in IPL 2021 with 223 runs in seven matches.

Pat Cummins: While the bowling unit did well in the 1st match, they weren’t consistent in the second. But more importantly, what Australia have lacked is a run-scorer in the tail end. In Pat Cummins, they have that. Missing him has meant, Australia’s batting depth has been significantly reduced.
