Gaming is becoming the fastest growing entertainment & sports industry – how it benefits brands and esports athletes

Since it’s the fastest growing category, it opens doors for not only endemic but also non-endemic brands to set budgets for marketing via fan engagement & social media campaigns, and sponsorships in order to reach out to Gen Z which is hard to do via traditional advertising. Plus the attention span that users have while watching streams is very high. It’s a great opportunity for brands to build brand advocates by catching them early.

Insights on effects of BGMI removal on all verticals of Esports – Teams, players, esports organizations

It’s been a tough situation for most organizations and players. Personally speaking, with Revenant since we are diversified in many other games we have not been in a bad spot but it has dropped down revenue projections that we had expected. Players have been switching to full-time streaming and content creation and have been trying out their hands at other titles. Since it is the biggest game in India, it has been a solid setback for the entire ecosystem altogether.

How important is having a diversified esports roster across different esports titles to thrive in the longer run?

I think it is very important to diversify not only in terms of rosters and teams but also with deals and brand partnerships it is always the wrong business tactics for having all your eggs in the same basket. Hence, we were not as affected as we thought we would be. Apart from that, we at Revenant believe holistic growth is very important for the entire ecosystem to grow and we will always strive to be diversified across all verticals. In fact we are slowly working and setting up infrastructure in different regions apart from India.

How esports athletes grow, develop and are nurtured in the gaming house (BootCamp)?

Our Gaming Facility is based out of Navi Mumbai, we make sure our athletes are provided the best sort of facilities at the bootcamp. I think as a team, living together in the facility helps players have a personal touch with the organization and also helps them build synergy outside of the game in order to perform better in-game so not only from a growth, development point of view bootcamps play a vital role but also helps a lot from a sync and synergy point of view.

How do coaches and analysts make the team ace their game, insights on the importance of having a guide for teams?

Well, coaches and analysts help players build the right mindset that is required to win championships, apart from that they also help them get better at their game at a strategic level and also help players to improve mechanically.

How Revenant’s rosters are performing as recently Pokemon Unite team represented India at PUWC 2022 in England?

Our rosters are doing great, we were the regional champions of the Pokémon Unite India Regional Chapter. We did not get the results we expected in England but the players definitely gained a lot of experience and I think that will help up their growth curve in the long term.

What is the future of your BGMI roster as the game is currently banned in India?

We will continue to invest in titles that are available to compete in India and as I said earlier we are looking at setting up shop internationally as well, so that is a prime area of focus. Also, BGMI is not banned in India yet, but once it’s available we will continue in tournaments that BGMI also has to offer.

What are the upcoming projects and future plans for Revenant Esports?

We want to get into Wild Rift and set up a shop in South East Asia. We are looking at a possibility of an expansion to LATAM and Brazil for a couple of games. Apart from Esports, we have a couple of brand collaborations that we are really excited to announce.
