Major League Soccer (MLS) club D.C. United have inked deals with sports marketing firms Octagon and Triple S Sports & Entertainment Group for the commercial rights and activation of Wayne Rooney’s marketing and media opportunities in North America.
The deal will see the three parties work closely together during Rooney’s time at the Eastern Conference MLS franchise for projects on and off the pitch. The 32-year-old recently moved from Premier League club Everton to join the North American top tier league under a three-and-a-half-year deal with DC United.
The deal now grants Triples S and D.C. United the exclusive rights to handle the commercialization and activation of former Manchester United star’s marketing and media IP in North America. D.C. United and Triple S have granted Octagon the exclusive rights to handle the commercialization and activation of Rodney’s marketing and media rights in North America.
Octagon is also known for creating award-winning marketing platforms and hospitality experiences for a client roster that includes Mastercard, BMW of North America, Bank of America, Cisco, Delta Air Lines, AB InBev, Taco Bell, Allstate and others.
