Virat Kohli resigns: Was BCCI clueless of Virat Kohli’s resignation decision? Media including InsideSport had earlier reported that Virat Kohli would make a big announcement very soon in regard to his resignation. But BCCI officials- Jay Shah (Secretary) and Arun Dhumal (Treasurer) immediately denied the circulating reports scrapping them as baseless rumours. However, Kohli announcing his T20I captaincy resignation just days after the probable talks has left fans curious if BCCI was concealing the announcement or were they themselves were clueless in this regard.
“There is no such proposal (to replace Kohli) and the team is led by Virat and we are backing him,” said Shah. We are sensitive to the fact that such a proposal is not in the interest of Indian team when it will take part in a World Cup,” Shah told website Cricbuzz.
“As long as a team is performing, the question of change in captaincy doesn’t arise,” Shah was reported as saying by the Indian Express newspaper.
“This is all rubbish. Nothing (as) such is happening. This is all what you guys (media) are talking about. BCCI has not met or discussed anything on this issue (split captaincy),” Dhumal told IANS. “Virat will remain as the captain (of all formats),” the BCCI treasurer was quoted as saying by IANS.

With the clear and explicit statements from top BCCI officials, the questions are mongering if even the apex governing body of cricket- BCCI was unaware of such a big decision. The fingers are also being pointed if BCCI was concealing the fact when the reports had been out in the public domain.
