“I was never told that I should not leave the T20I captaincy. My communication with the BCCI has not happened and I wanted to rest. Whatever was said, I was contacted 1-and-half hours before the meeting. There was no communication. The chief selector discussed the Test team. Before ending the call, I was told the five selectors told me I will not be ODI captain. Which is fine.”
The only active cricketer to score over 10000 ODI runs also quashed out rumours that he wasn’t available for the South Africa ODIs. Reports about the same have been doing rounds ever since BCCI sacked Kohli from the ODI captaincy.

“I am available for selection and was available for selection. I am always available for selection. In the past, there was something said that I was. They are absolutely not credible. I am available for ODIs and I was always keen to play,” he said on Wednesday.
The aforementioned two contrasting comments from the India’s red-ball captain has instantly hit chord with the fans of Indian cricket. In fact, many prominent personalities are now blaming Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI of handling the entire sacking episode horribly.
The livid fans are also demanding the resignation of Ganguly, who was himself sacked from captaincy and given an unceremonious exit from the team under the coaching tenure of Greg Chappell in 2005.
