The curtain-raiser match of the India vs South Africa T20I series was cleanly dominated by the hosts.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Indian bowling pace unit was extraordinary as they dismissed half the batters of the South African side within the powerplay. Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets while Deepak Chahar scalped two wickets. Harshal Patel also removed two SA batters while Axar Patel took one wicket.
The innings from K Maharaj was the reviving one for the visitors as he scored 41 runs off 35 balls. South Africa was restricted to 106 runs in 20 overs.
In reply, South Africa contained team India for a score of 19 runs in the powerplay. Then the unbeaten 93-run stand between KL Rahul (51* off 56) and Suryakumar Yadav (50* off 33) took the team over the line in the 17th over.
