After the successful LIVE broadcast of UWW Senior World Championships from Nur-Sultan and recently-concluded U23 World Championships from Budapest, Hungary, WrestlingTV is ready to bring in another world class event LIVE for the wrestling fans of the country.
India’s No.1 wrestling content destination www.wrestlingtv.in will now LIVE stream the Women World Cup, starting from November 16 in Narita, Japan. The six-nation World Cup will have top 6 teams of the world competing for the World Cup trophy.
The United World Wrestling has released the draws for the Women World Cup hosted by defending champions Japan. The Women World Cup will be a 2-day event where the 6 best teams of the world will compete for the world title. As per the UWW rules, top 8 finishers of the World Championship 2019 in the team rankings qualify for the World Cup. But the 6th-placed Kazakhstan and 8th-placed Azerbaijan have decided to stay away from the event despite qualifying.

The hosts and defending champions Japan, led by Risako Kawai (World Champion 57kg), will start as favourites for the World Cup title. Japan is also currently ranked No. 1 in the world in the women team rankings.
Other participating countries include World No 2 ranked Russia, No.3 USA, No.4 China, No. 5 Ukraine & No. 7 Mongolia. Indian girls failed to qualify for the world cup 2019.
Top women wrestlers of the world including Adeline Gray (USA), Risako Kawai (Japan), Natalia Vorobieva (Russia), Tamyra Mensah (USA), Rong Ningning (China), Mayu Mukaida will be seen in action during the 2 day event.
Format of the Women World Cup in Japan
– 6 top ranked teams to participate
– Group A will have Japan / China / Ukraine
– Group B will have Russia / USA / Mongolia
– Each team will play other in their group over 10 weight classes
– Top team from each group will qualify for Finals
– 2nd ranked teams in each group will play for the bronze medal
– 3rd ranked team in each group will play for 5th-6th positions
Japan will once again be the favourite for the World Cup title. No team has been able to dethrone them from top of the world of women wrestling (Kushti) since 2014. Japan has won all 4 world cups held since 2014 and they will try to win their fifth consecutive world cup in their own home ground.
