- Swiatek dominated the WTA circuit completely earlier this year with a dream run of winning 37 consecutive matches.
- On her winning spree, she won six consecutive titles that include Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open, Italian Open, French Open.
- Her winning run came to an end at the Wimbledon where she was ousted from the third round after losing in straight sets to Alize Cornet.
- She then reached the quarterfinal at her home tournament in Poland but lost in the quarterfinal to Caroline Garcia.
- Before entering the Cincinnati Masters, she suffered a second round exit at Canadian Open after losing to Beatriz Haddad Maia in a three-setter.
- Jasmine Paolini started the year with a first-round exit at the Australian Open earlier this year. Her best performance on hard courts is a quarterfinal appearance at Lyon Open during March this year.
- She failed to go past the second round in all the clay court tournaments this year. At the French Open she faced first round defeat as she went down in three sets against Irina Camelia Begu.
- She yet again crashed out from the first round at the Wimbledon after losing a three-setter against 25th seed Petra Kvitova.
- After that, she made two consecutive semifinal appearances at Palermo Ladies Open and Poland Open. At Palermo she lost to compatriot Lucia Bronzetti in three sets, while at Poland she faced straight set defeat against Caroline Garcia.
- Just ahead of the US Open, she bowed out from the second round t the Granby National Bank Championships.
Iga Swiatek vs Jasmine Paolini Head-to-Head: The upcoming contest will be the second time both these players will be facing each other on the WTA tour. They last met four years ago at Prague in 2018 with Swiatek winning the Round of 16 contest 6-2, 6-1. The Polish once again enters the upcoming contest as the overwhelming favourite. Paolini is yet to win a single match in Grand Slam tournaments this year and it looks likely that she will remain winless at Grand Slam tournaments this year.
