US Open 2021: The much-awaited US Open 2021 is all set to kickstart from August 30. The two-week-long tournament is set to feature some of the biggest names in the world of tennis. The tournament will miss the services of Swiss Tennis Maestro Roger Federer and Spanish legend Rafael Nadal. But it includes World No.1. Novak Djokovic, Tokyo Olympics Gold medallist Alexander Zverev, World No.2 Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Felix Auger-Aliassime. These players are expected to bring some top entertainment in absence of Nadal and Federer.

Novak Djokovic

The top-ranked ATP professional Djokovic will be looking forward to win the calendar grand slam when he begins his campaign at US Open. He has already won the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon.  As many as 5 players have won calendar grand slams. They are Steffi Graf- 1988, Margaret Court- 1970, Rod Laver- 1962 & 1969, Maureen Connolly-1953, Maureen Connolly- 1953. As mentioned, no player has won the calendar grand slam in the 21st century. Besides this, Djokovic can also go past his competitors Federer and Nadal by winning the 21st Grand Slam.

Alexander Zverev

After winning the Gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics, Germany’s Alexander Zverev will now have his eyes on the maiden Grand Slam. The 24-year-old had missed out on the opportunity to US Open last year after losing to Dominic Thiem in the finals. This year, he has been impressive at Grand Slam events and is currently in the form at Cincinnati Masters in Toronto. The German has also added a couple of ATP titles in Madrid and Acapulco. He enjoys a 165:83 win-loss ratio in hard-court events.

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Greek Tennis professional Stefanos Tsitsipas has returned to form at the Cincinnati Masters after an early exit at Wimbledon. He had earlier impressed at the Australian Open and Roland Garros by making it to the semifinals and finals respectively. Tsitsipas is coming on the back wins in Lyon and ATP Masters 1000 Monte Carlo events. With Nadal and Federer out of the tournament, he only needs to overcome Djokovic among big players. Daniil Medvedev

World No.2 Daniil Medvedev has been quite impressive in 2021. He entered the finals of the Australian Open 2021 and also made it to the quarterfinals at Roland. He had last made it to the last 16 of the Wimbledon. He has won 3 titles in this calendar year- ATP Masters Canada, Mallorca Open, and Marseille. Felix Auger-Aliassime

The US teenager has impressed in 2021 and he will look to dominate at his home. He also performed well at the Cincinnati Masters. In 2021, he has won 28 out of 45 matches. It includes 14/22 wins in hard-court events. Earlier this year, he also stunned Roger Federer in the Wimbledon warmup event.  The 17th ranked Aliassime also defeated Matteo Berrettini in the ongoing Western & Southern Open.
