US Open 2021 – Serena Williams Pulls Out: Serena Williams has withdrawn from the US Open due to a torn hamstring, the 23-time Grand Slam champion confirmed on Wednesday.
Serena, who turns 40 next month, had reached the semifinals at the last two hardcourt Slams. She has made four Slam finals since returning from maternity leave in 2018. This is the first Grand Slam tournament Serena has missed since her comeback.
“After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,” Williams wrote on Instagram.

US Open 2021 – Serena Williams Pulls Out: The 39-year-old has not played since retiring in the first set of her first-round match at Wimbledon after pulling a hamstring. Serena also skipped the Western and Southern Open Cincinnati.
Serena, who won six singles titles in US Open was expected to play the tournament but could not recover in time. The US Open begins on August 30 in New York.
Serena is the third biggest star to not play the tournament after superstars Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal withdrew from the US Open because of injuries.
