The 47-year-old broke the 100m/hr barrier first time against Newzeland in 2002 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore during the final ODI of the three-match series. Newzeland batter Craig McMillan received the first recorded 100 m/hr delivery in cricket. Akhtar bowled the beauty with all his might to clock the speed of 100.04 mph (161 km/hr).

In Srilanka’s tour of India, Dasun Shanaka-led Srilanka won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the first T20I, The host nation batted first and scored 162 runs for five wickets in 20 overs.
