And most recently, a video of UFC legend Georges St-Pierre, also known as GSP, taking on Montreal native and one of his sport’s most feared competitors, Georges Laraque, who stands 6’4″ and weighs 245 pounds, was uploaded. UFC vs NHL: Watch Georges St-Pierre vs Georges Laraque in a wrestling match
At the Tristar Gym in Montreal, friend and fellow Canadian Georges Laraque posed a challenge to former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre. In 2010, on the “Off the Record,” edition, the 33-year-old heavyweight hockey player went against GSP and tried to smack him.
Although GSP has no NCAA wrestling experience, he is regarded as one of the sport’s best grapplers, which astonished Laraque after competing against him for three rounds.
Not only that, but GSP’s responses to Laraque’s questions despite his little size made him appear simple, which impressed Laraque the most. Laraque stated, “That’s much harder than an NHL game or a hockey fight. It’s unbelievable. I couldn’t imagine fighting someone my own size.”

Whereas GSP also praised the NHL legend and stated, “I’m sure that if I had shown him a couple of techniques and if he had trained as long as me, with his size, strength and power, he would beat me. But the knowledge that I have that he does not, that was the difference.:
“I was surprised. He’s better than I thought he would be. I respect him a lot because he showed up. A lot of guys talk but don’t show up. While GSP did win the game, the NHL icon left a lasting effect on him.
