UFC News round-up: There were several things that happened today, some of which left fans in amazement in a positive sense, such as the announcement of the forthcoming encounter between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane, but others raised questions about Francis Ngannou’s future, which Conor McGregor highlighted. Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane for the heavyweight title at UFC 285

At UFC Vegas 67, UFC officially kicked off the first event of the year. Prior to the event, news of Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane at UFC 286 circulated online kudos to a photo of T-Mobile Arena where fans could see the official poster for the Jones vs. Gane pay-per-view fight, as shown in the image below.

Later, the UFC President verified that Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane’s heavyweight fight, which is scheduled to take place in March in Las Vegas, Nevada. Additionally,  Jones has also officially signed an 8-bout contract with the UFC, and he will compete in his first match following his comeback at UFC 286. You can check out more on the below link.

Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman 3 confirmed

UFC Head Hocho also made the announcement during the UFC Fight Night 217 post-fight press conference on Saturday, following the first event of the year. That Leon  Edwards will attempt to make his maiden championship defense at home following his 2022 Knockout of the Year triumph over Usman at UFC 278 in August. And it will be up against the same man from whom he took the title.

No one can forget Edwards’ stunning victory against Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC 278 to become the new welterweight title last year, which shocked the world with a head-kick finish. Meanwhile, Usman will undoubtedly seek revenge and attempt to win the belt.

Conor McGregor highlights Francis Ngannou’s UFC exit

Francis Ngannou, also known as the “Predator,” has been officially discharged by the UFC from its roster. Ngannou’s exit from the UFC has been announced by Dana White, thus other companies are free to recruit the former heavyweight champion. As a result, the heavyweight championship is now up for grabs, and the main event of UFC 285 will feature Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane. And Conor McGregor also highlighted it.

Sean Strickland beats Nassourdine Imavov

Dan Ige and Umar Nurmagomedov’s brutal KOs captured the attention of the crowd, confirming that the UFC did really get the event off to the start they were hoping for. However, the UFC Vegas 67 main event saw Sean Strickland defeating Nassourdine Imavov by unanimous decision (49-46, 48-47).

Strickland, who had been on a losing streak, surprisingly defeated Nassourdine Imavov to get back on the winning track. Following this, fans have already been fixated on UFC 283, which will happen the following week.
