UFC 282 had a stacked card with Prochazka and Glover Teixeira as the main event. Blachowicz and Ankalaev were to face off as the co-main. However, Prochazka injured his shoulder and had to undergo surgery. As a result, he pulled out and then vacated the title, since he would be out for a while.
According to reports, UFC then offered Glover Teixeira the shot at the title against Ankalaev. However, Teixeira turned it down, saying he did not have enough time to prepare for a new opponent.

So ultimately, he pulled out of the card. As a result, UFC promoted the previous co-main between Blachowicz and Ankalaev as the main event, and the two will fight for the vacant belt.
While UFC 282 will miss what would have been a great fight, Blachowicz vs Ankalaev is a fitting replacement. The former champion Blachowicz will look to regain his title, while Ankalaev will be determined to get his hands on UFC gold for the first time.
UFC 282: Paddy Pimblett will return as the co-main event
While the card lost one good fight, there are many other great bouts for fans to look forward to at UFC 282. Rising British sensation Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett will now feature as the co-main. This is another step towards his rise to the top of the sport.
Pimblett has had a rapid rise in the UFC thanks to his skill in the Octagon and antics outside. He will face Jared Gordon in what will be another tough test.
Bryce Mitchell will still feature on the card and will face Ilia Topuria, while Argentine Santiago Ponzinibbio will face Alex Morono in the welterweight division.
