New Rules Update for the Lightweight Title Showdown: Charles Oliveira who failed to make it to the weight limit is gonna vacate the Lightweight Title moments before entering the octagon to face Justin Gaethje. He became the first champion in UFC history to lose a title on the weight scale.
According to the new rules implemented on the fight between Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje, Oliveira can not win the title back even after winning the match, he can only exit the match as a number 1 contender for the Lightweight Title.
On the parallel, Justin Gaethje would still have the opportunity to win the Lightweight Title in his second shot ever at the title after losing against Khabib the first time back in October 2020.
