UEFA Champions League 2022-23: 4 group stage games in, the Champions League has been full of twists and upsets. Big clubs across Europe and fighting tooth and nail for a place in the round of sixteen. Barcelona, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid’s position in the campaign is especially worrisome. The two Spanish Giants and Italian ace team are struggling to keep afloat in the UCL and are staring at a drop to the Europa League in a couple of weeks’ time. Barcelona – The Blaugaranas have been struggling in the champions league group stage for the second season in a row. The club’s adversaries started the moment they were drawn in with Inter Milan and Bayern Munich. Things went even more southwards when they lost two back-to-back matches.
The last match against Inter Milan in their home ground Camp Nou felt like the last nail in the coffin. They can still qualify for the next round but that depends on a lot of ifs and buts. Barcelona will have to win all their remaining matches and keep an eye out for the league minnows Viktoria Plzen.
If Plzen loses to Inter Milan in San Siro, Italy, the chances of Barcelona going into the round of sixteen are over. If Barca manages to stay in the third position, this will be their second consecutive Europa League, which will not sit well with the fans. Especially after a good transfer window.

Juventus – The Bianconeri’s are another big shot who are looking at an early exit from the UCL. Juventus have been in the group with Benfica and Paris Saint Germain. The teams were tough enough to hold off Juventus. They are currently on the third position. Bianconeris will have to win all of their remaining matches.
That alone will not guarantee a knockout place for them. The Israeli club Maccabi Haifa would have to hold off either Psg or Benfica for the Italian giants to have a shot at the round of sixteen. Given Haifa’s run so far in the Champions League, chances of that happening are pretty slim.
Atletico Madrid – Atletico Madrid, who just welcomed Antoine Griezmann on a permanent deal few days ago, hit a bump on the road. Club Brugge, the Belgian club holds the Rojiblanco’s off to qualify for their maiden UEFA champions league round of 16.
The Club is six points clear of Atletico Madrid and will go on to play the round of sixteen. The Madrid side is yet to enjoy a win in the Champions League. They are at the third position in the group B. Porto are 4 points clear of them. The Madrid side will have to win their remaining matches and hope for a slip-up from Porto to secure a round of sixteen place.
