UEFA Champions League: Deigo Simeone refuses Jurgen Klopp handshake – Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone was cut a frustrated figure as his team succumbed to a 3-2 loss at home to Premier League giants Liverpool. The La Liga holders saw Antoine Griezmann sent off, a penalty given against them and a penalty decision of their own overturned in a disappointing night for Simeone’s side. After the final whistle, the Argentine boss headed straight for the tunnel, refusing to shake hands with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool: Diego Simeone headed straight down the tunnel following his team’s defeat to Liverpool, refusing a handshake by Jurgen Klopp at the full-time whistle. Klopp had held out his hand before giving a sarcastic thumbs-up when the Argentine ran down the tunnel. The German downplayed the incident in his post-match presser but reacted furiously to the suggestion from a Spanish broadcaster that he was angry at Simeone’s actions.

The Liverpool boss said, “Why was I angry? I am not such an idiot that you can [ask a] little bit question here. I was not angry at all. Have a look. I can imagine you want to make a story out of that, but I wanted to shake his hand, he [Simeone] doesn’t want it. In that moment I can understand that, he was running inside. He’s emotional, I’m emotional, and you are not a nice person because you want to make a story out of that. You said I’m angry, when was I angry? Now I am angry because of your question, come on.”

Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool:  A decisive Mohammed Salah penalty helped Liverpool clinch three points on Tuesday,m as they went top of Group B with three wins in as many games. Salah had opened the scoring with a stellar strike before Naby Keita scored a stunner as Jurgen Klopp’s side went 2-0 up inside the first 15 minutes at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Antoine Griezmann then cut the deficit before scoring the equaliser combining well with Joao Felix to run rounds around the Liverpool defence, who had Allison to thank for his heroics. Griezmann was soon sent off for his challenge on Roberto Fimrinom with his high boot hitting the Brazilian in his face, handing the advantage to Jurgen Klopp’s side who made the most of it.
