UEFA Champions League: Liverpool will take a 2-goals lead into the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie against RB Leipzig after a comfortable victory tonight in the Puskas Arena.
Liverpool made 1 change to their side that was beaten by Leicester last weekend. Milner is missing due to injury and is replaced by Thiago in midfield. Klopp kept his faith with Kabak and Alisson despite their mistakes in their last fixture.
Leipzig made 3 changes after their win over Augsburg. Upamecano returned in the backline to replace Orban, who was dropped to the bench with Halsteneberg. Sabitzer got the nod in the middle of the park, while Adams came onto the left side of a three-man attack.
Neither of the teams were able to score before half-time.
Mohamed Salah breaks the stalemate
It took Liverpool 8 minutes into the second half to break the stalemate as Mohamed Salah drilled a low strike past Gulasci. Kampl played a loose backpass towards Angelino and the Egyptian intercepted it before surging through on goal.
Salah held his composure to fire a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner to give Liverpool the lead in the 53rd minute.
Sadio Mane doubles the lead
It just took the Reds 5 minutes after their first goal to double their lead. It is another mistake by RB Leipzig. Sadio Mane capitalized on an error by Mukiele and slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Mukiele made a terrible attempt to clear the ball as the Senagalese scooped up the possession of the ball. He ran into the box and completes a finish past Gulasci to give Liverpool a 2-goals cushion and win the game for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
