Taapsee Pannu is decked up to set the track ablaze in her next, which also stars Akshay Kumar. Next on the card can be the role of India’s most successful women cricketer.

Close on the heels of playing the character India’s oldest pistol shooter Prakashi Tomar in shooting sport-based movie Saand Ki Aankh (Bull’s Eye), Taapsee will next seen in the role of a Gujarati athlete – Rashmi Rocket.

The Delhi girl has shared as short video clip about her next Rashmi Rocket with the caption “shooting starts soon”.

Akshay Kumar plays the male lead in the film. The Khiladi Kumar too has put the same clip on his twitter handle @akshaykumar. “This ROCKET is set for her next MISSION and she’s off to the tracks! Presenting a glimpse of @taapsee in and as #RashmiRocket.@MrAkvarious @RonnieScrewvala @RSVPMovies @iammangopeople #NehaAnand #PranjalKhandhdiya. Music for the motion poster: @LesleLewis,” reads the caption.

“This story instantly hit the right chord when I heard the idea. It’s one of those few films I was waiting to be developed into a script for me to do. Funnily, I have been made to run in almost every film I’ve done in every other genre. But this time, it’s going to be an out-and-out athlete’s tale. What excited me the most was the human drama that unfolds in her life, which makes it much more than a regular story of an athlete,” Taapsee had told the DNA newspaper about her role in the Ronnie Screwvala venture.

Taapsee has also confirmed to media that she is in talks for the role of Mithali Raj in the biopic on India’s most successful woman cricketer. “I’d say that I’d love to be part of the Mithali film, but it’s too early right now to say it’s happening. I’m in talks for it. I’m doing another sports film, which will be announced soon,” Taapsee had told national daily Hindustan Times.

Taapsee’s love sports goes beyond the silver screen. She owns a stake in a badminton team and her long-time friend Mathias Boe is a Danish badminton player, who had first met Taapsee when Sporty Solutonz had launched the Indian Badminton League in 2013. Boe was playing for Sahara Group-owned Awadhe Warriors and Taapsee was the brand icon of eventual champions Hyderabad Hotshots.
