T20 WC Final: James Neesham eyes maiden T20 World Cup trophy after 2019 World Cup heartbreak
In the latest video released on New Zealand’s official Twitter account @BLACKCAPS, the Kiwi all-rounder can be seen sharing his excitement and preparation for the summit clash. Neesham, who has been away from home for most of the part in this year, said that he decided in March itself to prepare and give his best for the showpiece event. He further says that it’s just one more step to go and is hopeful that they will get through this also.

James Neesham’s little cameo of 27 off just 11 proved out to be a game-changer for New Zealand before Daryl Mitchell guided the Kiwis to their maiden T20 World Cup final. The Kane Williamson-led side knocked out pre-tournament favorites England in semi-final 1 to become the first finalist of T20 World Cup 2021.
You don’t come halfway around the world just to win a semi-final: James Neesham was part of New Zealand’s heart-breaking Super Over finish in the 2019 ODI World Cup final where England controversially won on the boundary count rule and wasn’t seen celebrating after they knocked out England in the semi-final.

On being asked by BlackCaps about why he didn’t celebrate, Neesham says, “It’s a situation worthy of celebrating I guess – winning a semi-final – but you don’t come halfway around the world just to win a semi-final.”
“We’ve got our sights pretty firmly set on the game in a few days’ time… I’m personally, and we as a team, are not getting ahead of ourselves. One game to go and I’m sure there will be a bigger outpouring of emotion if we manage to get across the line,” he further added.
