T Natarajan biggest find of IPL 2020 and India vs Australia series: Left-arm pacers are a treasure in India and after the likes of Jaydev Unadkat, Khaleel Ahmed, leaving a mark, it’s time for T Natarajan’s to shine. The Tamil Nadu pacer is undoubtedly the find of the IPL 2020 and he has proved his mettle in the limited-over series against Australia.
After shining on his ODI and T20I debut, Natarajan continued his rich form in the T20I series against Australia.
While Natarajan picked just two wickets in the ODIs, he finished with six wickets in the three-match T20I series – the most. In fact, it was the manner in which he kept bowling the yorkers was what impressed one and all with the pacer being compared to someone like Zaheer Khan.
Notably, on his T20I debut, Natarajan picked three wickets for 30 runs from his four to help India defend 162-run target. He removed dangerous Glenn Maxwell before getting rid of D’arcy Short and Mitchell Starc.
His finest display came during the second T20I when he gave away just 20 runs in his four overs and took 2 wickets when every other bowler was getting thrashed by the Aussies. In the third match, the pacer picked 1 wicket for 33 runs.
Also, recently made his ODI debut in the third game against Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra and India skipper Virat Kohli handed the cap to the 29-year-old bowler before the match. In his debut game, he returned figures of 2-70 in his ten overs including a maiden.
He bagged two crucial wickets of Marcus Labuschagne and Ashton Agar and derailed Australia’s run-chase as India registered a 13-run win in the final ODI and opened their account in the ODI Super League while Australia took the series 2-1.
The speedster from Tamil Nadu gained popularity in the latest edition of Indian Premier League where he was labelled as the ‘yorker machine’. Natarajan played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and bagged 16 wickets in as many games in the 13th edition of the cash-rich league.

India skipper Virat Kohli feels if left-arm seamer T Natarajan keeps on bowling consistently as he bowled in the white-ball fixtures against Australia, the ‘yorker king’ can be a great asset for the Men in Blue during the T20 World Cup in 2021.
Pacer Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the T20I series and Mohammad Shami too didn’t play the last two games. Natarajan didn’t disappoint his skipper and led the charge in the T20I series.
Kohli said the left-arm pacer stood up for the side in the absence of pace bowling duo of Shami and Bumrah.
“Natarajan special mention for him as in absence of Bumrah and Shami. He is been the guy who has stood up and really delivered under pressure. And it’s an outstanding fact that he playing his first game at the international level,” Kohli said during a virtual press conference.
“He looks very composed and is a very hard-working guy and very humble too. I wish him all the best and a left-arm bowler is always an asset on the field and if he can be consistent it will be a great thing for us heading into the World Cup next year,” he added.
