Sushil Kumar Case Updates: Olympic medallist not cooperating in murder case investigation, says Delhi Police- Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award winner Sushil Kumar, who has been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old wrestler in Delhi, is not cooperating in the investigation of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch. On Monday, Sushil was sent to a 6-day police custody over his alleged involvement in a fight that caused the death of young wrestler Sagar Rana in the Chhatrasal Stadium.
Wrestler Sagar Rana died, while two of his friends Sonu and Amit Kumar got injured, after they were allegedly brutally assaulted by Sushil and his friends on May 4 night, at the stadium premises in the national capital. Sagar Rana, the victim, was taken to the hospital where he died an hour later. Rana was a junior Greco-Roman wrestler.
Sushil Kumar Case Updates: In order to avoid the arrest, Sushil kept changing his location from one state to another, but he was soon nabbed near Delhi’s Mundka area by the Delhi Police along with his associate Ajay Kumar.
After the arrest, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch team took Sushil to the Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi to recreate the crime scene on Tuesday. Sushil was also taken to his Model Town residence as part of the investigation.
Sushil Kumar Arrested: “Sushil Kumar was detained in police custody on May 23, 2021, for a period exceeding forty-eight hours. Now, therefore Sushil Kumar JAG/ (Adhoc) IRTS is deemed to have been suspended with effect from the date of detention i.e. 23rd May 2021 in terms of Rule 5 (2) of (D&A) Rules, 1968 and shall remain under suspension until further orders,” a statement from the Northern Railways said.
The police informed that Sushil is not cooperating in the investigation and has not talked about his alleged connections with gangsters. Sources with India Today have also confirmed that the 4 people accused of murder will be questioned face to face.
