The Cricket Advisory Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India has recommended former internationals Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh to fill the two vacant slots in the senior selection committee.

The CAC, chaired by the 1983 World Cup champion all-rounder Madan Lal, has also named Joshi for the selection committee chairman’s position. RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik were the other two members of the CAC, which interviewed the five shortlisted candidates at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai today (Wednesday).

Venkatesh Prasad, L Sivaramakrishnan and Rajesh Chauhan were the other probables in the short list of five candidates who appeared for the interview.

The two new members will join Devang Gandhi, Sarandeep Singh and Jatin Paranjape, who will finish their term later this year, in the selection committee. Joshi and Harvinder have come in place of incumbent selection committee chairman MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda.

Joshi and company will have an instant task in hand to pick the Indian team for the three-match One Day International home series against South Africa, scheduled to start from Dharamshala on March 12,  Thursday next.

The CAC will review the selected candidates’ performance after one year.
