Star India to add one more channel to sports bouquet; revise prices

Star India will add one more channel to its bouquet of sports offerings, which is already the largest in the country with a host of regional sports channels. The wholly-owned The Walt Disney Company India subsidiary will roll out Star Sports 3 HD on February 1.

Star Sports 3 HD will come at an a la carte price of ₹ 5 per month. This will be in addition to the existing Star Sports 3 in the SD category, which will be priced at ₹ 2 from February 1. Addition of Star Sports 3 HD extends the number of channels in Star India’s sports bouquet to 18. This will be the sixth HD channel in the Star Sports offerings.

Star Sports last year had also got license for the Star Sports Malayalam.

The existing list of Star Sports channels includes Star Sports 1 SD & HD, Star Sports 2 SD & HD, Star Sports 3 SD (HD to be on air from February 1), Star Sports Select 1 SD & HD, Star Sports Select 2 SD & HD, Star Sports First, Star Sports 1 Hindi SD & HD, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada, Star Sports 1 Bangla, Star Sports 1 Marathi.

Under the new price regime, Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Marathi, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Bangla, Star Sports 1 Kannada, and Star Sports Select 1 will cost ₹19 each.

Besides announcing the new channel, Star India has also decided to revise the prices of its channels from February 1.
