SRH vs KKR, IPL 2021: Harbhajan Singh makes his debut for Kolkata Knight Riders, returns to IPL after a year-long gap- KKR’s new recruit Harbhajan Singh is making his debut for Kolkata Knight Riders against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 3rd match of IPL 2021. The match is being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Harbhajan Singh was bought for his base price- Rs 2 crore by the franchise. He has scalped 150 wickets in his career and set to play a key role for KKR. His arrival at the club comes amid a lean patch of key spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the KKR squad. Bhajji will pair with Shakib Al Hasan in the bowling department.
Harbhajan needs 20 wickets to go past Lasith Malinga to become the highest wicket-taker in IPL. He has played a number of years at Mumbai Indians (MI) before moving to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and now KKR. At 40, Harbhajan is likely to play his last IPL season. He has an excellent economy rate of 7.05.
This is Harbhajan’s first professional game since IPL 2019 final on 12 May 2019, 699 days ago.

Meanwhile, Ace spinner Sunil Narine has been left out of the squad for the opening match of IPL 2021. Shakib Al Hasan is also playing in the playing XI after missing the last IPL season due to a ban by ICC on failure to report a corrupt approach. The latter is expected to strengthen the middle-order and finish games for Kolkata Knight Riders along with Andre Russell.
