Aiden Markram, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, will miss the IPL 2023 opener because of ODI match against Netherlands on April 2. Without Markram, the team will be led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Since the Sunrisers’ debut in 2013, Bhuvneshwar has been a member of the team and has previously captained them in six games in 2019 and once in 2022. Of those seven games, Sunrisers prevailed in two.
Along with Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen are also not availaible for the opening game. Only five foreign players remain for Sunrisers to select from aganist Rajasthan Royals: Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips, Adil Rashid, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Akeal Hosein.
