- Carlos Alcaraz is one win away from dethroning Novak Djokovic from the top spot in the world rankings.
- The 19-year old has reached his third successive final since his return to the tour this year.
- He has had a terrific run in the Indian Wells Masters 2023. The top seed is yet to drop a set.
- The World No.2 began his campaign by defeating Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-3, 6-3 in the second round after receiving a bye from the first round.
- He then had to play a tie-breaker in the first set against Tallon Griekspoor but comfortably sealed straight set win.
- In the third round, he was leading 6-2, 2-0 against Jack Draper before the Briton withdrew from the contest due to injury.
- The Spaniard then sailed past eighth seed Felix Auger Aliassime and Jannik Sinner in straight sets in the quarterfinal and the semifinal.
- Daniil Medvedev is on an impressive 19-match unbeaten streak. He last faced defeat in the Australian Open earlier this year.
- He is aiming to win his first-ever Indian Wells Masters title. The Russian entered the Masters 1000 event this year after winning the ATP Rotterdam, Qatar Open and Dubai Tennis Championships.
- He began his campaign with a straight set win against Brandon Nakashima in the second round. The fifth seed dropped a set against Ilya Ivashka but managed to clinch 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win.
- In the third round, he battled past an ankle injury and fought against Alexander Zverev to seal 6-7, 7-6, 7-5 victory.
- In the quarterfinal and semifinal, he defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Frances Tiafoe in straight sets to enter the final.
Alcaraz vs Medvedev Head-to-Head: Both the players met only once so far in the tour. They faced each other in the 2021 Wimbledon and Medvedev sealed a straight set win. However Alcaraz has made rapid rise over the last year and now will pose a big threat to Medvedev’s win streak.
