Two crosses from Ward-Prowse from the same patch of grass on the right was the difference though, as Elyounoussi and then Adams headed home to turn their fortunes around in the blink of an eye. Southampton will be delighted with their performance and all three points to boot. Broja was electric, and Ward-Prowse showed his usual technical quality. Tottenham however only showed their potential in periods of the game, and at other times were completely outplayed by their opponents. Conte has lots to think about before they play Wolves at the weekend.

Scorers: Bednarek (OG) 18′, Son 70′; Broja 23′, Elyounoussi 80′, Adams 83′; Tottenham led twice but still lost against to an impressive Southampton on Wednesday. Tottenham’s early dominance saw them take the lead when Jan Bednarek turned a Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg cross into his own net.

They weren’t ahead for long, though and are lucky to not be behind. Just six minutes later, the hosts failed to clear their lines and Romain Perraud’s low ball into the box was smartly finished by Armando Broja at the near post.

Through on goal, Broja had a great chance to double his personal tally but couldn’t find the target before Perraud thundered a strike against the crossbar from well outside the area.

Spurs took the lead in controversial fashion with 20 minutes to go. Broja went down on the halfway line under a challenge from Emerson Royal, no foul was given though and Lucas Moura was able to find Son with a low cross who made no mistake.

Southampton then turned it around in spectacular fashion. Mohamed Elyounoussi attacked a wonderful cross from James Ward-Prowse, planting his header into the ground and beyond the reach of Lloris before Che Adams gave the visitors the lead two minutes later.
