Wishes have poured in on social media as Sourav Ganguly turns 49, and former teammate Virender Sehwag has won over the internet with his heartfelt message for the former Team India captain.

Sourav Ganguly turns 49: Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag took to Twitter on Thursday to wish his captain Sourav Ganguly on his 49th birthday. Sehwag wished the BCCI President good health and wrote, “Few could match Dada ka Junoon, Dada ka Iraada. May you be in good health and spirits always Dada.”

Sourav Ganguly turns 49: Sehwag took his wishes up a notch on Instagram where he shared a picture of him and Sourav Ganguly riding a motorbike that had “Dada” written on it. The former Team India opener wrote, “Dada ki gaadi mein savaar hoke, dada ke saath hi ride par. That’s what the ride was with @souravganguly for those 5 years.” Fans were in complete awe of the camaraderie, with many dubbing them as “Jay and Veeru” for the iconic Bollywood blockbuster Sholay.

Sourav Ganguly turns 49: Virender Sehwag was one of the many players that broke onto the scene during Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy and the Delhi opener went on to have a stellar career in the game. The Nawab of Najafgarh as he is known, become one of the most destructive openers in all formats of the game, scoring in excess of 17,000 runs for Team India in international cricket. Sehwag was handed his debut in 1999, but it was only under Ganguly that he started opening regularly, forming a formidable opening partnership with both Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir.
