The second Test match will be played from July 8 to July 12 at the same venue. Australia currently hold the top spot in the ICC World Test Championship 2021–23 points standings, while Sri Lanka are in fourth place.

Spinner Jeffrey Vandersay has been added to the Sri Lanka Test team, which will be led by Dimuth Karunaratne, following his outstanding performance in the five-match ODI series against Australia, which Sri Lanka won 3-2.

Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Chamika Karunaratne, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Niroshan Dickwella are additional ODI players who have made the Test team.
