Sania Mirza is taking the Pakistan celebrity brand endorsement market by storm. The Indian tennis icon and husband Shoaib Malik are emerging the first choice to promote the household brands in Pakistan.

A vegetable oil brand in Pakistan on Thursday has released a commercial TVC featuring the Indian tennis icon and the Pakistani cricket star couple.

The commercial shows how Sania exhibits her culinary skills, using the ghee brand to impresses some guests at home. Goes, without saying the commercial also has a dose of cricket. And, Sania tries her hand at that, too.

The Asian Banaspati is also the official sponsor of the Pakistan Super League team Multan Sultans, led by Malik.

This is not the first time Sania has teamed up with husband Shoaib for a TV commercial for the Pakistan market. The couple has earlier featured for Nestle’s milk brand Everyday for the Pakistan market. The TVC has registered over one million hits on youtube in a year’s time.

The tennis ace had been among the first few sports icons in India to break the ₹ 1 crore barrier for brand endorsements. Way back in 2005, she would command ₹1.5 crore per annum for a brand endorsement deal in India.

With the emergence of new female sports icons like Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu for Indian brands, Saina’s commercial market at home might have dipped like her form of late but with husband Shoaib, she seems to be forming a formidable pair to give the Pakistani brand icons a run for their money.
