The 22-year-old youngster has played 19 domestic T20 matches in which he has scored 508 runs. The one particular reason why South Africa are interested in playing Stubbs is his ability to hit big sixes. Stubbs is a power-hitter and has a T20 average of nearly 160. Mark Boucher was seen spending a long time with the youngster, which could be another indication of Stubbs’ inevitable debut.

David Miller to be promoted?
Besides Stubbs, South African skipper Temba Bavuma needs to sort out two more dilemmas. The first of those is the batting position of David Miller. After a fantastic IPL 2022, Miller is likely to be promoted up the order in this series.
Speaking about that ahead of the game on June 9, Bavuma said “The conversation has always been there on David going up the batting order and facing a lot more balls and having the opportunity to be a lot more destructive. He knows where he fits within our team, the role he plays within the team, something he has played quite well. But if the opportunity is there to give David a lot more balls to face, I am sure it will be something that will be considered.”
What will be South Africa’s bowling combination?
The bowling combination might give Bavuma headaches, as he could either opt for a balanced lineup or a batting-friendly one. It is likely that he will be play only four specialist bowlers – Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj.
Since the track at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium is likely to be spin-friendly, Bavuma could play Aiden Markram as the fifth option bowling, which will allow him to play Reeza Hendricks up top. But alternatively, he could prefer some security in terms of bowling options, and might play Dwaine Pretorius as a sixth bowling alternative by dropping Hendricks.
