Since Ben Stokes left, Rajasthan Royals had to go for a pace bowling all-rounder and with only 13 crore in its kitty, Ben Stokes and Cameron Green were out of reach. They settled for Jason Holder, who could be a handy option at the Sawai Man Singh ground where batters get a lot of value for their shots.
His presence at the back-end will give coach Kumar Sangakkara and captain Sanju Samson a lot of hope as well as option of power-hitting. Similarly, his well disguised slower ones will also be effective on Indian tracks.
Having let go of foreign players, the Royals have freed up funds to buy players who can make contributions towards team’s success. The team looks a settled unit but they will target to fill the slots of overseas all-rounders and Indian pacers.

In total, 10 franchises spent Rs 167 Crore at the auction for 80 players. Sunrisers Hyderabad picked up 11 players for a total of Rs 34.5 Cr. Punjab Kings spent only Rs 20 Crore for 6 players out of the Rs 32.2 Cr purse they had.
