237 successive weeks as World No.1 

Roger Federer became the World No.1 for the first time in his career in 2004 after he won his maiden Australian Open title. He displaced Andy Roddick to seal the top spot in the rankings. From then on, he maintained his position at the top for the next four years creating the record for most consecutive weeks at the top of the rankings. In those four years, he won 10 Grand Slam titles. In 2008 his reign at the top came to an end after Rafael Nadal replaced him.

Only player to win two Grand Slams five consecutive times

Federer is still the only player in the history of the Open era to win two different Grand Slam tournaments five successive times. He won the Wimbledon successively from 2003-07 and the U.S. Open from 2004-08. He is also the Only player to reach all four Grand Slam finals in the same calendar year three times (2006, 2007 and 2009).

Most Wimbledon victories 

While Roger Federer shined on all types of courts in his illustrious carrer, Wimbledon has always been his favourite as he won the most titles by a man in the history of the oldest Tennis tournament in the world when he won his 8th title in 2017. Federer defeated Marin Cilic in the final at the All England Lawn Tennis club and with it, he surpassed Pete Sampras’ record of seven Wimbledon victories.

First Man to win 20 Grand Slam titles

Roger Federer achieved one of the biggest records in the history of Tennis as he became the first-ever man to win 20 Grand Slam titles ion 2018. He achieved the feat after winning the 2018 Australian Open title by defeating Marin Cilic in the final. With the victory he also won his sixth Australian Open title. He was aged 36 years and 173 days back then and became the second-oldest man to win a Grand Slam title in the Open era after Ken Rosewall, who won the 1972 Australian Open aged 37. This however has become Federer’s last Grand Slam title.

Oldest No.1 in ATP history 

In 2018, Roger Federer broke his own record to become the oldest-ever player in the history of the ATP Tour to be crowned as the World No.1 at the age of 36 years and 10 months. Federer achieved the feat after claiming his 98th ATP title in Stuttgart. It was the second time that year, Federer became the World No.1. He replaced his rival Rafael Nadal to clinch the top spot in the rankings.

Never retired from a match in his career

One of the most insane achievement in Federer’s career is he ha never retired from a singles match ever in his long career. He has played a mindblowing 1,526 singles matches in his career and not even once has the Swiss legend retired midway from a match due to a niggle or an injury in his entire career. This shows how well he has maintained the fitness level throughout his career. However this doesn’t mean he has never injured himself in his career. He has ofcourse missed matches and tournaments due to a recurring injuries but he has completed playing all his matches without taking a medical retirement which is a tremendous feat.
